The Author
Crisula Stefanescu is a writer and published author of over thirty books, including poetry, stage plays, novels, interviews with cultural figures, and one children's book.
Born in Romania, Crisula studied Philology at the University of Bucharest. After teaching French and Romanian she emigrated to Germany in the early 1980s and settled in Munich, where she began working for Radio Free Europe (RFE). Until 1995, Crisula worked as a researcher and analyst within the RFE Research Institute, writing hundreds of articles and research papers on personalities, events, and the cultural and ideological life of Romania, Europe, and the United States. Many of these writings were later quoted and referenced by the English press. She later hosted the cultural radio program Controversies / Confluences East–West, conducting interviews with prominent figures and offering weekly reflections on cultural life between Romania and the Western world. When RFE relocated to Prague in 1995, Crisula chose to remain in Germany and devote herself entirely to writing. To date, her books have been translated into Romanian, German, English, French, and Russian.
